DO YOU HAVE SHADOW ELECTRIC GIFT VOUCHERS
Sure do - They are available in singles and doubles and in adult and concession forms here.
Please make sure that Concession Gift Voucher Recipients have a valid concession card to present upon entry to the cinema.
HOW ARE GIFT VOUCHERS REDEEMED?
Gift Vouchers are redeemed by simply heading to the film you wish to see and booking a ticket like normal.
When you proceed through the ticketing side of our website you will be asked to enter a Gift Voucher / Promotional code.
By entering this code the ticket price will be deducted from the Gift Voucher amount. Easy!
WHEN DO THE GATES OPEN?
From Thursday to Saturday gates open at 6pm. On Sunday’s they’re open from 3pm, we ill be in the courtyard on Sunday's with DJ's, live music and loads of ping pong tables - come on down early for some food and drinks in the sun.
WHY ARE YOU OPEN EARLIER ON SUNDAY?
Sundays. The perfect day to recover with your friends in the sun at the Convent. We will be providing food, beer music and sports (mainly Ping Pong) in the courtyard from 3pm each Sunday - free entry until 7pm, when you will need a film ticket to stay on with us.
WHAT TIME WILL THE FEATURE FILM START?
The films only come out at night. This means at sundown. This is usually around 8:30pm.
MY FRIEND SAID YOU'RE SCREENING THEIR SHORT FILM, ARE YOU?
As part of our commitment to helping local artists and film makers we will be screening aprox 20 mins of our favourite local shorts and music videos prior to our feature presentation.
ARE TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR?
Sometimes, but we highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. Ticket holders are first in the door at 6pm. Any individual tickets not sold prior to the event will be available at the door but most likely close to the films starting time.
CAN I EXCHANGE MY TICKETS FOR ANOTHER NIGHT BECAUSE MY BRO’S ENGAGEMENT PARTY IS ON, AND I FORGOT?
Tickets are non refundable and non transferable. If a session is cancelled due to bad weather your tickets will be transferrable for any other night in the season.
CAN WE RESERVE “SEATS?”
Positioning is on a first come, first serve basis. So come down early and have a drink at the bar while the sun goes down.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Melbourne can have four seasons in one day, so bring yourself a warm jumper or blanket… or snuggie if you dare! Even if it’s blazing sunny when you leave the house it can get pretty chilly in the evenings. Feel free to bring a blanket.
CAN WE BRING LAWN CHAIRS?
Nope. No need as we are a fully seated outdoor venue.
WHAT KIND OF FOOD IS THERE?
We will be providing an interesting and ever changing selection of sweet and savory snacks for you to enjoy.
IS THERE A BAR?
There sure is! Our custom designed bar and lounge is housed within the rustic walls of the Industrial School, adjoined to our amazing courtyard auditorium. We will be serving up Jonathon’s favourite summer cocktails, wine, beer, cider and soft drinks.
CAN I SMOKE?
In designated smoking areas and all we ask is that you dispose of your butts with respect to nature.
WHAT IS THE RAIN POLICY?
All best efforts will be made to screen every film but if it’s totally washed out (as determined by us) you’ll be able to transfer your ticket for another screening. In times of light intermittent rain we may choose to pause the screening and take cover in our large bar area, whilst we assess the situation. The Shadow Electric reserves the right to cancel any film in the case of bad weather, this not only applies to heavy rain but also high wind situations that may damage our beautiful screen.
If a film is to be cancelled ahead of the screening, the homepage of this website will show a Twitter notification(this will be done by 6:00PM on the night of the screening).

CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Sorry folks, no pets allowed. Please leave your furry/scaley friends at home.
ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED?
Our screenings are geared generally towards adults but children are welcome. The Shadow Electric follows the Australian Classification Boards ratings and guidelines. Please check movie content before bringing children. As we are a licensed venue, all minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult or guardian.
DO YOU OFFER A REDUCED RATE FOR CARERS?
If you are the primary carer of someone with a disability and you’re attending a screening with them, show your companion card and you’ll be admitted for free. Any concerns please contact us and we will make any necessary arrangements.
WHAT KIND OF A PROJECTOR AND SOUND ARE YOU USING?
The screen is a custom made Hurley screen and fits into a 30ft waterproof enclosure. It came all the way from the US of A for you to enjoy it.
We are projecting with our state of the art 2k Christie 2210 projection machine. Illuminating the night with a massive 18,000 lumen.
Our sound is 5.1 Dolby Digital. Delivered via 12 x Funktion One speakers.
HOW BIG IS THE SCREEN?
The screen is 28 ft x 15.75 ft. And that .75 makes a BIG difference.
We know that film makers go to massive lengths in order to construct a film. Films should be presented with a level of respect for the art form. Our screen is covered in tiny glass beads just like most indoor cinema screens that you are used to.
